More leg, less leg?

Long dress or short dress? That is the question we must truly ask ourselves.

The long dress short dress debate has been going on for a long time, whether or not people should be wearing long dresses to homecoming or is it exclusively short dresses only? Many believe long dresses are too formal and should be saved for prom only.

Like many people a good majority of people believe that Homecoming is a short dress only event, leaving long dresses and gowns for prom or any other more formal events that the school offers. Taylor Gardner (‘24)  agrees that Homecoming is one of the more laid-back events where long dresses aren’t necessary.

“Yeah, I feel like a homecoming is less formal. It’s more like a party. So I think short is just like, better for the occasion,” said Gardner.

Dress shopping is daunting for most, with a wide selection that seems endless. You can buy online with shops like Lucy In The Sky or Lulu’s, then again you could go in-store to places like Dillards or Windsor.

Once you pick where exactly you want to go you’ve met with another decision of all the specifics of your dress: what color? What type of cut? How much do I want to spend?

Gianna DiPasqua (‘25) like many other girls goes through this same thought process, all these different thoughts running through her head.

“Oh, I definitely keep an open mind because like even this year, like I went with a dress that I would have never probably looked at if I didn’t have an open mind because I kind of went in this year and I was like, oh like I only want like this color dress and I only want it this style. And I came out with something completely different,” said DiPasqua.
