The school’s assistant principal has won the award of AP of the Year for Pasco County that was announced on Nov. 2, 2023. Mrs. Cortier talks about her experience being awarded the title.
“It’s an honor to be recognized amongst all the peers at all the levels that I work with, especially because it was a district-wide title, a little surreal. I know I’m a hard worker and I try my best to make everyone’s job easier. I love working with the kids, especially the AP and dual enrollment kids, and I love interacting with them at lunch and seeing everyone progress throughout their time here at Mitchell,” Cortier said.
Mrs. Cortier has been working at the school for almost 17 years and originally started out as a science teacher. She shares that her favorite memory here was when she and Ms. Scultz were forced to dress as cheerleaders for a pep rally several years ago.
“I felt honored to win this award and that other people have recognized the hard work that I do throughout the district and I’m definitely amongst great people so it’s a little surreal that I was selected. I haven’t really done anything to celebrate yet but we will, we just had a quiet dinner last night, but we’re going to celebrate this weekend when my son comes home,” Cortier said
Congratulations to Mrs. Cortier for winning assistant principal of the year in the district.
