New and old Christmas movie classics

Taking a look at the comparison of old Christmas movies in the 1900s to new ones in 2021.

Every year, hitting the month of December, families start up their DVD players and watch their seasonal Christmas favorites. Many Christmas movies like “The Miracle on 34th Street”, “The Grinch that Stole Christmas” and the newest Christmas movies like “Love Hard” on Netflix gain a lot of attention from their heart-warming messages.

One famous movie “The Miracle on 34th Street” was released in 1947 and profited about $2.7 million in the following years, according to TheNumber.com. Natalie Wood acted as Susan Walker, one of the main characters. Natalie and her co-stars Edmund Gwen, who played Santa, were known for their strong friendship on and off the set. This old movie had amazing chemistry between the characters and warmed many hearts across the globe with Kris Kringles journey to prove to Susan that Santa is real.

The latest Christmas movie, “Love Hard”, was released on Netflix on Nov. 5, 2021. This romantic Christmas movie starred Nina Dobrev as Natalie Baur, Jimmy O, Yang as Josh Lin, and Darren Barnet as Tag. Only released a month before Christmas this film went viral on Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter. Fan accounts on Instagram were made just for the movie one being, @Lovehardnetflixmovie. This movie featured a love triangle between the characters and stole many teen hearts.

This movie is watched by all ages, a Dr, Suess’ classic, and features a green grumpy grinch. “The Grinch that Stole Christmas” first came out in 1966, and had two remakes following the first one. This old movie made a worldwide gross of $345.1 million. Boris Karloff starred as the Grinch in the very first movie but the most known and loved according to HiddenRemote.com is “How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey”. Carrey made a total of 35 million dollars just from his role as the Grinch.

Both old and new movies feature heartfelt stories that sway everyone into a joyful Christmas spirit. Coming out soon, there will be a new Christmas movie called “A Journal for Jordan”, released on Christmas day. To watch all these classics, Netflix, Hulu, and live cable will be playing all these movies throughout the month of December and leading into January.
